She has a superpower ability, such as telepathy, telekinesis, but everytime she uses it, it drained her energy like bloody nose. It suspicious for Mike that El is connected with a missing Will. So, they found about The Upside Down , which a parallel universe where maybe Will still alive there. They have to find a gate to reach that, so The Hawkins Lab , a government research has hiding a secret about a "weapon" like creating "a controller mind", and still continuous to find what's inside that gate.
